Paper Smooches Designer Drafts

Well, today is a super sad day for me – my last day as a member of the Sparks Design Team. I have loved to be part of this great group – such inspiring artists working with such amazing products. It has been a real pleasure & I can’t wait to play along now that my term is ending :-)

Ok, onto today’s card – this week is Designer Drafts – it took me a few minutes to find my groove with this sketch, but I think I got there in the end!

Paper Smooches Celebrate

I used Calico & Bold Buzzwords for the focal panel. The vellum is held in place with a strip of stitched washi tape.

Thanks so much for stopping by today and definitely make sure to check out all the amazing creations from the design team this week and wish everyone well for their last week!

Stitched Thanks

Hey friends!

So, I am in the middle of a very busy week. We are heading off on Sunday for a 2 week trip to see my in-laws & I have laundry coming out my ears! I am also in the middle of a blog re-design, which is actually tons of work, but lots of fun. I am participating in Alt for Everyone – a really inspiring conference about blogging and social media. I am hoping to introduce some new content here at some point – nothing drastic, but consider yourself warned :-)

StitchedThanks

Anyway, back to the regular programming – a card (shocker!). I saw the Peach & Mint challenge over at Little Tangles and knew I wanted to play along – this is one of my all time favorite color combinations. I used You + Me to create the flower and added stitching lines through the center to give the appearance of veins in the petals. I stamped the circle from Everyday Circles and used foam adhesive to get some dimension on this otherwise flat card. I originally left it there, but after looking at it a few times, decided it needed something more – the narrow strips of washi tape did just the job,

Thanks for stopping by today. I will be popping in a few times over my holiday, but it will probably be a little quieter than usual!

Paper Smooches Sparks Anything Goes Challenge

Hello!!! Where is time going, right? I cannot believe it is December 15th! One more week here in Zurich and then off on vacation to see my in-laws for the holidays. A change will be good, but can’t believe it is coming so soon!

Anyway, on to the business at hand! It is time for another challenge over at the Paper Smooches Sparks challenge site – and this week is easy – Anything Goes. This is perfect in the run up to Christmas as I’m sure you are busy finishing up those last holiday cards & tags.

GetWell

I decided to do a non-holiday card this week. I got a little technical with the die cutting on this one – tried to do an inlay effect in a rainbow of cardstock. I love the result, but it did take me a long time! I have always respected the die cutting genius of crafters like JJ Bolton & Laura Bassen – I have a whole new level of respect now! I also love all the cool angles everyone is doing on card fronts lately – makes such a big impact!

I covered the die cut letters & the stamped heart with Glossy Accents – I love the extra oomph you can achieve from something as simple as a clear gloss.  On this card I used the Get Well die cut and the heart stamp is from Vegtastic. A little Bella Blvd washi tape finished everything off!

Thanks so much for stopping by today – have a great weekend and make sure to check out all the amazing DT creations & play along!

10 Minute Craft Dash #31

Hello! Time for another 10 Minute Craft Dash – almost the last of the year – so sad! I just love the color combo today – nice & bright. I think it was definitely intended to be for Christmas, but I needed a little break from Christmas cards, so I went a different route!

The amazing sponsor this week is Lawn Fawn, who are giving away a great prize – be sure to play along for a chance to win.

This simple card took me 7:31 to complete. This is definitely my go-to layout at the moment and, like I always say, that is key for me when doing the 10 Minute Craft Dash! I used a Studio Calico stamp and old card kit to put this card together. I thought it would be fun for my nephew’s upcoming 7th birthday.
Thanks for stopping by today and make sure to check out the amazing DT creations!

Simon Says Stamp November Card Kit

Another weekend come & gone….so sad! I didn’t get much crafty time this weekend, but did have a chance to whip up 2 quick cards with the November Simon Says Stamp Card Kit.

I love these kits, but don’t have a chance to use up all the goodies nearly as quickly as I’d like. I’m now trying to create at least 3-4 cards from the kit before I integrate the supplies into the rest of my stash. Anyway, I digress. Onto the cards…

Thats all for me tonight – busy week with a Christmas market and a workshop – probably will be a bit quiet here! Thanks, as always, for stopping by!

10 Minute Craft Dash #30

Hey friends! 3rd Wednesday of the month & time for another 10 Minute Craft Dash (btw, how is it already the 3rd week of November????). Anyways, today we are joined by a fabulous sponsor – Uniko Studio for a $15 gift certificate. Reason enough to play along – love their stuff. And the colors this week are gorgeous.

First, a disclaimer about my card – I had the washi bow ready ahead of time. I used a tutorial on Ashley Marcu’s blog to make it & to be honest it was trickier than I thought and I’m not over the moon with the result, but I went with it anyway! This card took me exactly 10 minutes – it was a tight one with supplies flying around like crazy!

Thats all from me today. Make sure to check out the amazing creations of the DT over at Paulina’s blog!

A Moxie Fab Thanks

Hey and welcome to a very special day on the old blog. We are honoring Cath Edvalson, the Trends Editor of Paper Crafts Magazine and the mastermind of Moxie Fab World.

Withgratitude

Cath has touched the lives of so many of us bloggers. For me personally, the content and challenges on the Moxie Fab blog have pushed me as a card maker – from inspirational photos to challenges that push my comfort zone – Cath has definitely helped me on my artistic path. I remember the first time one of my cards was ‘spotted’ by Cath and featured on the Moxie Fab blog through a link in her post – I was beyond excited. To think that she even had seen my blog was so exciting! I had the opportunity to meet her – albeit briefly – at CHA in Chicago in 2011. She was walking around with Susan Opel and they both offered words of encouragement for me to continue submitting work to Paper Crafts Magazine. That conversation has stayed with me until now and serves as a reminder if I ever feel frustrated. Cath is such a kind, positive and genuine person – I am grateful to have been touched by her Moxie Fabness.

Soloved

Now, this is one huge blog hop to celebrate – I think the list is well over 200 participants. You should have arrived here from the blog of Therese Calvird and your next stop is Frances Byrne. If you get lost along the way – please stop by Moxie Fab World for the complete list or see the entire list below.

Adventures in Washi Tape

Hello out there! It has been pretty quiet on my blog the last month, but I’m really hoping to share lots of projects between now & the arrival of baby in February, so stay tuned!

I wanted to play along with the Papertrey Ink Make it Monday this week – it can be any previous challenge & I never get around to any of them…so, thanks to the inspiration of Nichole Heady, I chose to make my own Washi tape – a simple idea using Scor-tape, tissue paper & stamps – lets just say I’m hooked!

I had such a fun time pulling out some neglected stamp sets and using the tiny stamps that I never seem to have much use for. The sketch is loosely inspired by Lucy’s sketch for her week of sketches from Day 3 – I’ve loved all of them & I’m sure I’ll come back to them again & again. Lastly, this card is for the Paper Smooches Guest DT search for February!

Thanks for stopping by & check back tomorrow for a fun Wee Memories challenge :-) Have a great Friday.

Wee Memories Challenge – Anything Goes!

Woohoo  – its the weekend! It has been a looong week, so I’m very happy to see Saturday :-)

I’m here today with a brand new Wee Memories challenge – this week the theme is Anything Goes. We are joined by fabulous sponsor Artful Delight who are generously giving one lucky winner a Card Kit – you won’t want to miss this one!

For my card this week I used a strip of Lucy Patterson Washi Tape – this stuff is gorgeous. The tape is based off real vintage kimono designs – the designs are stunning. These are on sale right now – a great stocking stuffer!

Hope you have time to play along this week – the challenge ends Friday December 9th!
