Lacey goodness

A super quick post tonight – I have tons to do, so going to keep this short!

I finally got out my new Turning a New Leaf die today to make this card – I have been wanting to use it since it arrived. I rarely use lace, but was inspired by the challenge over at the Embellish Magazine blog to use decorative trim & shades of green. I also took inspiration from the current card being featured in the CASE challenge. All of this green reminds me of things blooming, so its also for the A Passion for Papertrey challenge.

Thanks for stopping by & have a great day!

Happy Mother’s Day

Hey everyone!

Just a quick post tonight featuring another card I did for Mother’s Day – which is coming up in just a couple weeks here in the UK. I used the color combo from Color Throwdown – orange, green & blue.  I used the same sketch as the post below – I have a few more fun color combos with this card for Mother’s Day to share later…

This is also for the Simon Says Stamp Challenge – Mother’s Day

Thanks for stopping by!

Spring is in the air!

Hi everyone & happy Monday!

It is starting to feel a little like spring in London and it makes such a difference – it is lighter later, warmer, the sun is trying to sneak out every once in awhile – its so nice! It really does make everything seem better – I do looove spring.

As it starting to feel like spring, I have definitely been drawn towards my cheery patterned paper and sweet floral stamps. When I saw the beautiful color palette over at The Play Date Cafe I knew I wanted to play along. Here is my CAS creation:

Here is the color inspiration photo:

Delightful Doilies are sooo delightful!!

Its been a super busy weekend and we still don’t have a computer at home. Luckily my husband brought his computer home from work so I have a chance to do a quick blog post.

I have really enjoyed the week of honouring over at Joy Taylor’s blog and she has posted a challenge for her readers to do the same. There are so many people I get inspiration from, but I really love Dawn McVey’s work and chose a card from the Love Birds release in December. I decided to do some Mother’s Day cards and did a lot of variations on color. Here are my creations:

Sorry for the dark photos – couldn’t get any good pictures of these with good natural light. The first card uses the new Papertrey Ink color, Royal Velvet – it looks very blue here, but it is a beautiful, vibrant purple and I can’t get enough of yellow & purple at the moment. In all these cards I have used the color that is 1 shade lighter for the layer on Mat Stack 3 – it is hard to see in the picture, but very nice in real life!
Here is Dawn’s card that I used as inpsiration:

Thanks to Dawn for being so easy to ‘honor’ and thanks to Joy for this wonderful challenge!

Mother’s Day Flowers

So, in the UK Mother’s Day is April 2nd and I’m busy making cards for friends. I love making mother’s day cards because I really love my mother! I think even though these are for someone else’s mom, I probably make them with my favorite person in the back of my mind. And, I can pull out all my favorite floral stamps as I think moms generally go for that stuff!

I remember seeing this sketch over at Karen’s blog, The Sweetest Thing, and really was struck by it & wanted to play along. Alas, time was not on my side. But, I’ve used in anyway for my cards today. Got to use lots of yummy new My Mind’s Eye & Crate Paper on these cards. Apologies for the bad pictures as well!!

This last card definitely reminds me of spring & also uses some green, so I’m entering it into the current challenge over at Wee Memories.

Thanks for stopping by!

Marker fun..

Well, I’m back from a great weekend away learning all about Copics. I am complete beginner with Copics but have always been so hopeless using them, so decided it was about time to get some real lessons. I met great women who are all so talented – I was blown away by their skills.

Anyway, the card today pre-dates the Copic retreat and is actually for the Moxie Fab World Stamp-It Stamping with Markers challenge.  I love this new sympathy set from Hero Arts and inked up the flower with my Marvy markers. I did learn how to use Copics direct to stamps though and can’t wait to give that a try next :-) This card is also for the Anything Goes challenge over at Simon Says Stamp.

Thanks for stopping by & watch this space for lots of Copic cards coming soon!

Rejection Blog Hop!

Hi Everyone! Happy Sunday.

First of all, congrats to everyone who had cards accepted into Paper Crafts Go-to Sketches. I didn’t have anything picked up, but trying to see the silver lining – plenty to go on the blog this week! I’m sure like many other crafters, it is hard not to be discouraged, but going to dust myself off & try again. I was so excited to see a great idea for a rejection blog hope on Amber’s blog & delighted to join in!

I had a few cards that I really enjoyed making and I thought I would post them here. They are really patterned paper heavy – I love patterned paper, but do try to keep things simple. For this particular call I wanted to use lots of the newest stuff available.

Here is my card for sketch 59:

I’m also submitting this card for the current Waltzingmouse Sketch Challenge & the Color Q challenge. Let me just say – this flower was a real labor of love – lots of paper scoring and folding!
Another card I really loved making that is full of Basic Grey Hopstotch goodness is this one for sketch 55:
There is much more to come this week for reject cards so stay tuned!
Thanks for visiting & thanks again to Amber for this great idea!ο»Ώ

A new little someone…

I think this is my favorite sentiment from Papertrey Ink’s Baby Button Bits, which is seeing a lot of ink lately!! I have another quick post today with a new baby card. The design is based on something I’ve seen on Maile Belle’s blog – I love Mat Stack 3 turned on its side and tucked away.

And the teddy bear in this set is just adorable – but those detailed cuts – ouch!

I genuinely can’t get enough of the October Afternoon Thrift Shop papers – I know they’ve been around awhile, but they are my all time favorite.
Ok, off to work my last work event and tomorrow is my last day!!! Starting Monday, I’m working part time at a new job and taking the rest of the time to pursue some crafting ideas I’ve got floating around! Its been a wonderful 3 years at my job and so grateful for my experience there. Will miss them dearly, but ready for my next adventure!
