A Moxie Fab Thanks

Hey and welcome to a very special day on the old blog. We are honoring Cath Edvalson, the Trends Editor of Paper Crafts Magazine and the mastermind of Moxie Fab World.

Withgratitude

Cath has touched the lives of so many of us bloggers. For me personally, the content and challenges on the Moxie Fab blog have pushed me as a card maker – from inspirational photos to challenges that push my comfort zone – Cath has definitely helped me on my artistic path. I remember the first time one of my cards was ‘spotted’ by Cath and featured on the Moxie Fab blog through a link in her post – I was beyond excited. To think that she even had seen my blog was so exciting! I had the opportunity to meet her – albeit briefly – at CHA in Chicago in 2011. She was walking around with Susan Opel and they both offered words of encouragement for me to continue submitting work to Paper Crafts Magazine. That conversation has stayed with me until now and serves as a reminder if I ever feel frustrated. Cath is such a kind, positive and genuine person – I am grateful to have been touched by her Moxie Fabness.

Soloved

Now, this is one huge blog hop to celebrate – I think the list is well over 200 participants. You should have arrived here from the blog of Therese Calvird and your next stop is Frances Byrne. If you get lost along the way – please stop by Moxie Fab World for the complete list or see the entire list below.

Finally, a card!!

Boy have I been quiet here!! Between my parents arriving in London & anxiously awaiting baby’s arrival, card-making hasn’t been the top of my list. Yesterday I did manage an hour of uninterrupted card making bliss & it was a great distraction from being a week overdue! So, in honor of our upcoming arrival – a baby card!

I have been following along with all the Papertrey Ink anniversary celebrations and wanting to play along & today my card fits the bill as these sweet animals have hearts on their bums. The colors are inspired by the fab piece of cake over at Moxie Fab for this week’s Tuesday Trigger.

Thanks for stopping by & hopefully the next post will be about our latest arrival – fingers crossed!

Fun Felt Tag

Hi Blogosphere!

Just popping it for a quick post today to share a little felt creation. It was inspired to break out some felt for the Fabulous Felt Challenge in Moxie Fab World and used a sketch over at Waltzingmouse Sketch Challenge Blog for my inspiration. Unfortunately, I missed the deadline over at Waltzingmouse…This is also for the Anything Goes challenge at A Passion for Papertrey – I used all PTI felt.

Anywho, here is the little tag I created entirely out of felt (and 3 buttons!)

Thanks for stopping by & have a great weekend!

Time for another Cupcake challenge – we’re getting sketchy!

Hey everyone!

Hope you are having a good Monday so far! I’m here today to share a card for the latest Cupcake Crafts Challenge – this time a great sketch, courtesy of the lovely Liza.

And here is my take on the sketch:

Tickled Pink Stamps are offering one lucky winner, chosen at random, either one rubber stamp or two digital images of their choice.

Our Icing on the Cupcake sponsor this month is:

Chevron, Butterflies, & Doilies, oh my!

There is a whole lotta stuff going on in this card today – patterned paper, stitching, doilies, felt, butterflies, chevron stripes…

The sketch is based on the Card Patterns challenge for this week and the colors are another entry for Totally Hues #7. I definitely associate chevron stripes with a more modern look, but I think they look nice as a subtle background in this somewhat vintage-y card — so this is also for the Chevron Chic Challenge in the Moxie Fab World.

Thanks for stopping by!

A labour of love!

So, thanks to the great challenge over at Lawnscapings to create your own patterned paper with stamps, there have been lots of great videos floating around the blogosphere to  show different ideas (for example, Kelly’s & Mary’s).

For a long time I’ve wanted the American Crafts City Park papers – especially the balloon one. But, alas, I don’t have it. Thanks to some great inspiration, I decided to make my own balloon paper. Now, if anyone has this particular PTI stamp set, they’ll know the balloon & balloon basket are separate stamps…this sheet of paper took me a looong time!!

And here is the first card I’ve made using the patterned paper. I accented some of the red balloons with glitter, but its hard to see in the pictures. The bird and banner are both embossed with clear embossing powder and adhered to the card with foam adhesive.

This card is for the In My Beautiful Balloon Challenge in Moxie Fab World and the sketch is based on the current sketch over at the Waltzingmouse blog.

Marker fun..

Well, I’m back from a great weekend away learning all about Copics. I am complete beginner with Copics but have always been so hopeless using them, so decided it was about time to get some real lessons. I met great women who are all so talented – I was blown away by their skills.

Anyway, the card today pre-dates the Copic retreat and is actually for the Moxie Fab World Stamp-It Stamping with Markers challenge.  I love this new sympathy set from Hero Arts and inked up the flower with my Marvy markers. I did learn how to use Copics direct to stamps though and can’t wait to give that a try next :-) This card is also for the Anything Goes challenge over at Simon Says Stamp.

Thanks for stopping by & watch this space for lots of Copic cards coming soon!

A cheerful Monday card..

Monday already?!? It comes so much quicker than Friday, right? A quick post tonight – had to squeeze this into for my last entry for the color challenges over at Moxie Fab World.

This card is for the Jewel Tones Color Challenge for Color Inspiration for Card Makers Week in the Moxie Fab World. The sketch is based on the Sketchy Sunday sketch over at Tiffany’s blog, Iheartart - one of my absolute fave places to visit!

I’ve included both of these pics as I’m just getting used to doing a little photo editing and I honestly can’t decided which is better – the first is compeletely natural light & no changes to the image. The 2nd is using the ‘auto-fix’ feature on Picasa – then a little manipulation to the ‘temperature’. Not sure how any of that works! So, any good photographers out there – which image is better??

As I used a bow for a CAS card, I’m also submitting it for the Pals Paper Arts current ‘bow’ challenge. The cheerful yellow was inspired by the sunflower image over at Just Add Ink. Lastly, its going in for the Anything Goes challenge over at The Paper Players.
Here are all the inspiration pics:

An easy person to case…

Hi everyone!

Thanks so much for the lovely comments on my ‘ribbon vase’ (post below). I had a lot of fun creating it & will definitely try it again for another card!

I have a quick post today with a cute little girly number. I have recently become *obsessed* with all things Lawn Fawn. Their stamp sets are adorable – whimsical, but sophisticated. I inked up Sew Lovely for the first time for this card. I wanted the design to be simple and I chose the colors for the Metallic Color Challenge for Color Inspiration for Card Makers Week in the Moxie Fab World. I wanted to play along with the current challenge over at Lawnscaping, which is to case Kelly Alvarez – no problem there – I love her style. Here is what I came up with:
It is sort of hard to tell, but the back layer is embossed with large polka dots & it is really sweet! I think this would be a great bridal shower invite…
Here is the card of Kelly’s that I cased:
And here are the colors for the Moxie Fab World challenge:
Thanks for stopping by!

Papertrey Ink Blog Hop

Hi everyone!
I’m participating in the Papertrey Ink Blog Hop for the first time this month & was very excited about the challenge: ‘This month’s blog hop challenge involves you challenging yourself to use a Papertrey stamp set that has yet to see ink or even one that might be collecting a little dust!’

I have made 2 cards for the Blog Hop. The first uses Larger than Life and the second uses Heart Prints. Both of these sets are beautiful, but I don’t use them nearly as much as I would like.

Here is the first card – the sketch is based on the current challenge over at Clean & Simple Stamping – sketch 124 – and the colors are for the Neutrals Color Challenge for Color Inspiration for Card Makers Week in the Moxie Fab World Challenge. This ‘ribbon vase’ is much better in real life! As I definitely freed my creativity on this one, I’m also entering into the current challenge at Wee Memories.

My next card uses Heart Prints & Fancy Flourishes – the sketch is based on the current challenge over at Get Sketchy. The colors are more pinks for the Monochramatics Color Challenge for Color Inspiration for Card Makers Week  over at Moxie Fab World. This also fits nicely with the current challenge, ‘Sweet Inspiration’ over at A Passion for Papertrey.

Thanks for visiting & enjoy the Blog Hop!
