Cupcake Craft Challenge – DIY background paper!

It has been a long time since I was able to join in at Cupcake and I’m so pleased I am taking part this week. This week’s challenges is one of my faves – make your own patterned paper. I love using my stamps to create backgrounds — allows for the perfect look for any project.

This week we are joined by the generous Simon Says Stamp who are offering one lucky winner a $20 gift certificate. And our monthly sponsor for December is Polka Doodles – two winners will receive the Pretty Sweet CD!
Hope you have time to get inky & create some of your own background papers!

Wee Memories Challenge – Brads, Buttons or Bows

Hello blog friends!

I feel like it has been ages since I stopped in for a visit. Between moving house, being pregnant & trying to get a UK driver’s license, life is absolutely crazy. I have now set up my craft room though and its a real treat to create in my new space (even though I’ve only had about 20 minutes in there so far!). Its a small room, but its all mine and the mess isn’t offending anyone ;-)

I’m excited to be back in the swing of things sharing a card for the new Wee Memories challenge – an especially fun one – brads, buttons or bow. I love all of these things so this was easy-peasy for me :-) I chose to use a bow, but struggle to leave a bow without a button…

I’ve made a similar card in the past, but wanted to try to use some non-girly papers on this otherwise very feminine card and I think it turned out well! I never use this Cosmo Cricket Social Club paper & I definitely think I should break it out more often.

Our fab sponsor this week is Jay Gee’s Nook, who are generously offering a $20 gift certificate to the winner. Make sure to check out the store – it is full of paper crafty goodness. And don’t forget to visit all the DT blogs for a good dose of inspiration!

Hope to be back again soon sharing more projects!

A clean & simple congrats

Hey everyone! Wednesday already?? I don’t know where time goes…

Just a quick card today that I made using some new Lawn Fawn stamps – I love the images in the Bon Voyage set – the clouds are so sweet. This sketch for this card is based on the current design over at Card Patterns.  I used some Cosmo Cricket Nutmeg papers — I still love this paper pad. And the plane is covered with glossy accents. I do feel like there is something missing on this card, but can’t really put my finger on what…any thoughts?!?

I was debating on entering this into the Paper Crafts Gallery Idol, but I’m away for 2 weeks in July and don’t think I can commit to the schedule (not that I’d expect to make it through round 1!). This card is also for the ‘Clean & Simple’ challenge at Lawnscapings and the ‘Anything Goes’ challenge at Wee Memories – 2 of my fave challenge sites – be sure to check them out! And here is the sketch:

Thanks for stopping by & hope you’re having a great week!

A friendly bee!

There is a great colour combo challenge over at Cupcake Craft this week – orange, green & yellow. If these colours don’t shout summer, I don’t know what does.

I had lots of fun inking up Giddy Bugs, a Paper Smooches stamp set. I won this set and hadn’t used it yet, but I love all the images. Can’t wait to use it more! Even though I’m late on this one, the sketch was based on this design over at the Clean & Simple blog.

So, don’t forget to come join us at Cupcake — there is plenty to be won. Our generous sponsor this week is Pink Gem Designs. They are offering the winner 4 images of their choice! And our monthly sponsor is Crafts U Love, offering a Β£15 gift certificate!

A vintage birthday

Hey everyone!
Another quick post today – I’m exhausted & ready to call it a day (despite still only accomplishing about a 1/4 of my to do list, again!). I really wanted to squeeze in a card for the Play Date Cafe this week – I love the color combo. And, I really wanted to ink up my new Hero Arts stamp, Sew Stylish. The sketch is based on the current challenge over at CPS. This is also for the ‘Let’s Party’ challenge over at Lawnscapings.

Cheerful cards for a sunny day!

Hey blog friends! TGIF! It is a beautiful day here in London, so don’t spend too much time staring at your computer ;-)

A pretty long post today – I managed to get a few cards done for some challenges finishing today, so wanted to sneak them all in under the deadline.

First up – a card for a little boy turning 2 soon. I never make cards for little ones (besides baby cards!) so this was a fun change to pace. The sketch is for the challenge over at Skipping Stones Design and the because it is colorful, it is also going in for Wee Memories Color Challenge.

Next up, a sweet little baby girl card using the colors from the Off the Wall Craftiness challenge and the sketch over at Card Patterns. As usual, using my new Lawn Fawn Plus One set – it is getting an unfair amount of inky time compared to some other stamps in my collection ;-)ο»Ώ Its hard to see in the picture, but the banner strip is stamped with the new Papertrey Ink Gingham background and its super sweet!

Last up, a birthday card for my friends father-in-law. I struggle with masculine cards and am always inclined to keep them very clean & simple. Not sure about this one though – it is looking a little too simple for me right now, but can’t put my finger on what it needs! Suggestions welcome! I used the stapled twine element from the card by Angie Hagist on the CPS blog – thought it was perfect for a guy! This card is for the CPS challenge & CR84FN Color Challenge.

Thanks for stopping by!

Happy Birthday Hubby!

It was my husband’s birthday this past weekend and we got away for a long weekend to Budapest to celebrate! It was great to go on a little mini-break from London and we had a wonderful time taking in the sites and food (probably spent more time taking in the latter!).

I wasn’t very prepared with a birthday card and put this together quickly last night when I gave him his present. I went back & forth about whether or not to share it – definitely not my best or most creative card – but still a bit sweet & colorful!

I made this card for the Wee Memories Color Challenge & Lawnscapings Challenge – make your own background paper challenge. I used the star from Lawn Fawn – Bake a Cake to make the background. The rest of the goodies are Cosmo Cricket – my sweet guy loves when I make cards with those cute chipboard critters.

Here are a couple pictures of us enjoying Budapest!

Thanks for stopping by!

Is everyone having a baby girl???

Happy Monday blog friends!

Just a super quick post today – lots going on! I have had tons of requests lately for baby girl cards. I do *love* making baby girl cards – I can definitely indulge my cutesy, pink-loving side that I try to keep under control for the majority of my cards…

The sketch for this card was inspired by current sketch over at Card Patterns - make sure to stop by – they’re celebrating their 2nd anniversary all week long! The card is also for the ‘Someone Special’ Challenge over at Stamptacular Sunday.

Thanks for stopping by!
