5 Minute Friday

Hello friends! I hope everyone who celebrated Thanksgiving yesterday had a great holiday. It is always the holiday I miss the most living abroad. Usually I do something, but this year I was on my own with my little guy and we had a very busy week, so no Thanksgiving fare for us! I think I’ll request a Thanksgiving dinner when I’m home next :-)

So, in honor of my busy week, I thought I would do a 5 Minute Friday. I used the sketch from Case this Sketch and used my favorite wreath – Avery Elle Winter Wreath.

I kept the card super simple to stay within my 5 minute parameter – just stamping and a strip of wood tape to finish it off. I did add Glossy Accents to the berries, but admittedly that was after the 5 minutes was up!

Thanks so much for visiting today and have a great weekend!

Lucky Stars

Back again with another Christmas card (surprise!). This is another one made using the Elle’s Studio Good Cheer line. This quilt-inspired paper was my favorite in the collection and I was hoping it was small scale enough to use on a card – whilst it is a touch big, I thought it still worked just fine. I wanted the paper to be the star of the show, so I kept everything else very simple.

I love the bold pattern of this paper and all the bright colors. I cut apart some other ephemera pieces and papers to create strips of grey to mat behind the sentiment label – it needed something subtle to set it apart from the busy paper.

Thanks so much for stopping by today and send prayers and baby dust this way if you have a second. I’m keeping fingers & toes crossed that this is our month :-)

Merry & Bright

I recently got my hands on some adorable Christmas papers and embellishments from Elle’s Studio. Their Christmas line, Good Cheer, is exactly what I was looking for this holiday season. Reds, greens, pinks – Christmas-y, but not too traditional. I tend to only buy 6×6 paper pads for my card making, but there 12×12 papers are often small scale enough to work for a standard size card. And, one of the papers included in the collection has a side with 4 6×6 squares, which I put to good use!

I used a journaling card for my central element, and stamped a sentiment from the Merry & Bright stamp set. I used some of the ephemera shapes and the wood veneer pennant to finish off this simple card. I love red & pink together for the holidays. It is hard to see in the picture, but the wood pennant is attached with red twine, which nicely ties in all the red elements on the card.

That is all for today – I’m back tomorrow with more Elle’s Studio! Thanks so much for stopping by & have a great weekend!

FRECKLED FAWN VERY MERRY EMBELLISHMENT KIT DAY 2

Hey there. Back again today to share another set of tags made using the Freckled Fawn Very Merry Embellishment Kit. I shared some yesterday as well. You can really do so much with this adorable kit. I will be using these for a make and take next week – so far I’ve got 10 tags made from this kit. I think there is scope for at least another 10 :-)

Here are today’s tags.

Freckled Fawn Very Merry Embellishment Kit Day 1

Hello! Sorry for the quiet blog! It has been a super busy week! Christmas fairs, workshops, 40 day yoga challenge, 3 day juice cleanse, in-laws visiting – the list goes on & on! I am on Day 10 of my 40 days of consecutive yoga. It has been great so far. I am feeling very positive and calm and ready for all the challenges that are coming my way in the next few weeks. Sometimes my sessions are just a 20 minute restorative practice before bed, but it feels good to stick with it and ‘check in’ every day.

Onto today’s crafty business. I purchased some Freckled Fawn Very Merry Embellishment Kits to sell at upcoming Christmas markets and wanted to see what I could come up with using the kit contents. I used some Hero Arts stamps and 1-2 rolls of washi tape, but the tags are made predominantly with items available in these adorable kits.

These are simple and easy, but I love seeing how much I can get out of this kit. A lot of the contents are more suited for scrapbooking, but there are so many adorable embellishments for tags and cards. And I LOVE the gold labels. Something about a gold label – gets me every time ;-)

Ok, that is all for me today – my brain is only 1/2 working today thanks to my juice cleanse so I don’t want to start rambling nonsense! See you tomorrow with some more tags.

Peace, Love & Joy

Hello friends! I’m back from our long weekend in London and working through the monstrous to-do list as we speak! How about you? Anyone else totally crazy right now? London was great – so nice to catch up with old friends, do a little shopping – I even made it to a yoga class.

Speaking of yoga, yesterday marked Day 1 of my 40 Day yoga challenge. I am hoping to do 40 consecutive days of yoga in the run up to our holiday vacation. As my struggle with fertility continues and stress runs high this time of year, I figured it was a perfect time to do something that will promote calm & patience. I will try to keep tabs of my journey on Instagram and Twitter with little updates here as well. I would love a partner if there are any yoga enthusiasts out there!??

Ok, onto today’s card. I made this for the Avery Elle Holiday challenge taking place this month. I love Winter Wreath – it gets a lot of use during the holidays. And that bow with the matching die – swoon. I wanted rich, Christmas colors for this card so went with bold greens, red & gold.

Sorry for the less-than-perfect photos – good light in November is proving hard to come by!

Joyful Greetings

The holiday spirit is in full swing here. I am teaching a lot of holiday card workshops this month and wanted to design some cards with my brand new Hero Arts holiday sets. Today’s card features the new stamp Family & Friends. I love the tree in this set, so decided to focus on it for today’s card. The aim was cheerful & bright & I kept the design loose and imperfect – I think the sketchy tree lends itself well to that sort of feel.

This is another entry for the Hero Arts Holiday Challenge.

That is all for me today – big to do list now that we are back from London. My calendar is crammed the next few weeks – I’m sure it is the same for most of you!

Simple Christmas Tags – Day 2

Hey friends! Back tonight with a super quick post. We’re heading off tomorrow for a long weekend in London and my to-do list is daunting.

Today’s tags are super simple. I cut this tag design on the Silhouette. It is from the same group as Monday’s tags, with the fold-over top. This time I chose a background stamp for the entire tag and I used the same gold ink to color the fold-over portion of the tag. I wanted the golds to match and this seemed like the quickest and most guaranteed method. I used some gold twine to finish them off. The back is stamped with ‘to’ and ‘from’ in gold ink also.

The background stamp is an olderHero Arts stamp – Artistic Circles - I just love the intricacy of the design. One of my all-time faves. I’m entering this into the Hero Arts Holiday challenge.

Ok, thanks SO much for stopping by – I really appreciate it. Back soon with more simple tags!

Simple Christmas Tags – Day 1

Hello! Hope you all had a great weekend. We had a quiet one enjoying some gorgeous Zurich sunshine. We were crossing our fingers for trick or treaters after spending lots of time carving pumpkins and teaching our 2 year old about Halloween, but no luck this year!

This week is all about tags. I love making tags for the holidays – I like to keep them simple so I can turn out a bunch in time for Hannukah & Christmas. I usually stick to stamping and try to find nice tags to cut out on my Silhouette so I’m not constantly cranking away on my die cutter. I have to say though, my favorite designs are still my die cuts, so inevitably I do a lot of those as well.

PoinsettiaTagsx5_blog2
Today’s tag is cut from the Silhouette and I just love all the options it provides. It has a fold-over top so you can customize the tag in so many different ways. For today’s tag, I stamped the top with the Hero Arts tiny stars background stamp in gold. I kept the rest of the tag super simple, stamping a bold poinsettia and various sentiments. I adore this poinsettia from Waltzingmouse Stamps  – I’ve been using it for years.

PoinsettiaTag_single_blog

The sentiments are a mix of Papertrey Ink sentiments from past Christmas sets. They do a lot of small ones geared towards tags that work so well in small spaces. The ribbon is also Papertrey Ink, and the lovely gold & cream twine is The Twinery.

I am entering these tags in the current Hero Arts challenge.

5 Minute Friday…on Saturday

Hey friends. So, I didn’t get around to this post yesterday, but better late than never! I really admire all of you who have your blogs scheduled weeks in advance – I’ve never quite got the hang of that!

I have a super quick card for my 5 Minute Friday series. I love trying to make a card in 5 minutes – that is literally all I have some days so it is really satisfying. Disclaimer: the pink card base stamped with the stripes was already done. It was in my ‘to use’ pile on my desk, so I thought this was a good opportunity. I love pink & gold for a non-traditional holiday card. The rest of the card came together in no time – simple stamping a quick twine bow.
