Simple Watercoloring – Day 2

Hello! I’m back with another instalment of Simple Watercoloring. This mini series is all about the easiest ways to add a watercolor look to your paper crafting projects. I said it on Day 1 - I’m not interested in techniques that are going to cause me stress & take the fun out of card making. These cards are easy and doable – trust me – I’m no artist!

WatercolorDay2

For today’s card I created a mask using circle dies and cardstock. I used 2 pieces of heavy cardstock to create the mask as I knew it would be getting wet. In hindsight, I might have opted for acetate as the water did still manage to seep through the mask a little. In this instance, however, I felt the ‘mistake’ added to the natural, watercolor look of the card.

I first added water to the circle openings using a paint brush. Next, I used re-inkers to add the color, carefully dropping small dots of color. Using more water, I smoothed together the colors. Often I went in and added additional color to intensify the look. I finished off the card with some enamel hearts and a bold sentiment from this Winnie & Walter set.

The card is for the current Case this Sketch challenge – I loved this week’s sketch.

Thanks so much for stopping by today – wishing you a wonderful Thursday!

Bold & Bright Watercolor

Morning blog friends. Can’t believe it is already April 27th – seriously, where does time go? Nearly May. Just crazy.

I am stopping in for a very quick post this morning to share a card I made for the current Case this Sketch/Runway Inspired challenge. I loved the inspiration photos & the sketch. I was also inspired by this Donna Mikasa card – she is definitely one of my ‘muse’s’ and I chose this card for its angles, complemented by a gorgeous watercolor floral image – I am also entering this for the Case Study DT search.

You made my day

Hello!

Hey friends. A super quick post tonight – its 9pm and we haven’t even gotten around to dinner here, so going to keep this quick! I made a card for the current Case this Sketch challenge.

Hello_splatters

I kept is simple with a stamped background and layering my ink splatter stamps directly on top on the background, along with a few real ink splatters to give it a more cohesive look. I die cut ‘hello’ 4 times to create some dimension without bothering with foam adhesive. Some sequins and voila!

Thanks for visiting & have a great day!

On the Diagonal

Hey there blog friends! Can’t believe it is Monday again – it comes so quickly, right?!

Anyway, back after a little lull in creativity. Really couldn’t make anything last week- ever have weeks like that? I did manage to do something today, but not sure I’m loving it! Even so, felt good to just get in my room and be productive.

WellWishes

I wanted to play along with some of the WPlus9 anniversary festivities & today’s challenge was to do something in your comfort zone, which I suppose is clean & simple for me. I do love layers & paper, but more often than not I am drawn to clean cards – so thats what I went with. I used the great diagonal sketch at Case this Sketch as my starting off point.

Ok, thats all for me tonight. Thanks for stopping by – really means a lot!

Back to reality

So, after a whirlwind, amazing weekend in London, it is back to reality here in snowy Zurich. I had such a great time shopping & seeing friends. And, it is amazing what you can accomplish when you don’t have a 2 year old with you! I was so efficient!

Anyway. I’m back today sharing a quick card, inspired by the sketch over at the Case this Sketch challenge. I recently received this adorable stamp set from Neat & Tangled as a challenge prize – I adore the font. I paired it with some Amy Tangerine Cut & Paste goodies for a super simple card.

Birthday Balloons

Big day for me today – I’m off to London tonight for a weekend away on my own! It is the 1st time I’ve left my son and done something solo. I’m a wee bit excited (and a little nervous!). I have a super busy weekend of seeing friends & shopping – can’t wait.

Before I head off though I have a quick card to share. My husband will be taking Jacob to a birthday party this weekend for some other 2 year olds and this is the card for the birthday boy.

The card sketch is based on the current challenge over at Case this Sketch – always love their designs!

Gold Goodness

Hey friends.

If you’re looking for Day 10 of 12 Days of Holiday Projects, click here.

I have a non-holiday card to share today. I recently bought some new Neat & Tangled stamp sets & saw they have a challenge using gold & white. I also love the sketch over at Case this Sketch. Not sure about my card, but thought I’d share it anyway.

It is a little hard to tell in the picture, but the triangle panel is actually dry embossed with gold ink – I have never done this, but it was surprisingly easy! Like the effect – a little like letterpress, but less work. To get the gold frame I used a gold sharpie pen and traced inside the largest Lil Inker stitched rectangle die – a few places aren’t perfect, but I’m *trying* to be ok with that!

Thanks for stopping by today – really appreciate it!

Fresh Cut Florals

Hello again! So, I’m a bit late to the WPlus9 Fresh Cut Florals party – it sold out so quickly I wasn’t able to get my set until pretty recently. The set is absolutely gorgeous, but I have to admit I am finding it a little tricky to line up the flowers & dies. And the hyacinth – definitely not perfect – but, working on it!

I made this card for the WPlus9 Monday Mood Board & Case this sketch challenges. Happy I finally got a chance to ink up the set – can’t wait to play more!

Thanks for stopping by & have a great weekend!
