Little Sweet Pea

Its been a very rainy day here in London – which meant I could justify some time for getting inky!

Just a quick card to share today for the Mojo Monday sketch & card recipe over at a Passion for Papertrey – The recipe called for 3 colours — I went for green, light pink & dark pink – ribbon & 2 buttons.
This card is a little busier than I’ve been making recently, but I love all these gorgeous new papers from the My Mind’s Eye Lime Twist line (sorry for the bad photo – gloomy day = dark picture).
Hope everyone has a nice end to their weekend & thanks for stopping by!

Washi Tape – how I love thee

Hello & thanks for stopping by!

So, yesterday I finally opened my new package of Washi Tape from Etsy seller Yur1kub0 and decided to make some clean & simple baby cards.

I was at a little bit of a loss for where to start with these gorgeous tapes, so I turned to the latest issue of Paper Crafts, Card Creations and CASEd a card by Courtney Kelley and stitched through a strip of Washi tape. I also used Lucy’s sketch over at Lily Pad Cards as inspiration for these simple cards. I think these would make a great set — looks like I’ll need more Washi tape!

Thanks for stopping by!

Cupcake Challenge!

Hope everyone has survived the Royal Wedding weekend! Today is a very special day – it is my first week as a design team member for Cupcake Craft Challenge & I’m so excited to be part of the team.

As a special welcome we’re doing a special ‘Hello Cupcake Blog Hop’. If you’ve just arrived from Poppit’s blog then you’re in the right place! While you’re here, please leave a comment and then hop over to Sari’s blog! Here is a peak at the candy:

Don’t forget to leave a comment on each Blog in the Hop, including Cupcake and our Guest Designer and sponsor, Hayley’s for a chance to win the Candy from Funky Farm Scrapbook Barn
Additionally, if you use the following code: CUPCAKEBH during checkout at Funky Farm Scrapbook Barn anytime up to midnight, GMT, on 09 May, you’ll get a 10% discount on your shopping basket.

The challenge this week was to create something beginning with a ‘C’.  The possibilities are definitely endless with this one, but I thought I would go with a cupcake for my inaugural week :-) There is a great prize this week of a $20 gift certificate to Simon Says Stamp and the Icing on the Cupcake monthly prize will be from Crafts U Love.

This was definitely made with a baby girl in mind – I paper pieced the sweet little cupcake image from Papertrey Ink Baby Button Bits and finally inked up Mat Stack 4 for the background label.

Make sure to play along with us this week & create something beginning with ‘c’ on your work; cupcakes, cherries, cars, circles, cerise, cyan, Christmas, clean and simple. You name it, so long as it begins with ‘C’, you can play it! Don’t forget to tell us what your ‘C’ is in your post.

You have until 8pm GMT on Sunday 08 May to place your entry for this challenge. Have fun & thanks for stopping by!

Not your average baby card

Another baby card to share today and this time using some very nontraditional colors. I loved the colors for the current challenge over The Play Date Cafe, but I had so many baby cards to make & I was determined to make it work! I think it turned out well – who says purple & turquoise can’t be used for babies?

The sketch is based on the current sketch over at the Clean & Simple blog and it is also for the Passion for Papertrey – Hey Baby! challenge. Lastly, as I didn’t use any markers, it is also going into the current challenge over at There She Goes Stamps.

Card details:
Cardstock: Hawaiian Shores, Royal Velvet, Stamper’s Select White (Papertrey Ink)ο»Ώ
Patterned Paper: Little Yellow Bicycle
Stamps: sentiment from Plus One (Lawn Fawn), bears from Baby Button Bits, Polka Dot Basics (Papertrey Ink)
Ink: Tuxedo Black (Tsukineko), Versamark
Accessories: buttons (Papertrey Ink), twine (The Twinery), die cut (Papertrey Ink), clear embossing powder

Boy & Girl Baby Cards & an award!

Get cozy, lots going on in today’s post!

I have been making baby cards like crazy lately – everyone I know is having a new little someone! I needed a boy & girl baby card for 2 friends (luckily in different countries!) so the current challenge over at Papertrey Paper Dolls to make matching boy & girl cards was perfect. These cards are also for the Paper Piecing Challenge over at Moxie Fab World and ‘Piece Out, Man!’ challenge at A Passion for Papertrey!

The ‘boy’ card (though I think it could be for a little girl as well!) is also for the challenge over at Jay Gee’s Nook – the colors were inspired by her gorgeous photo. The card is also for the Get Krafty challenge at There She Goes Stamps. This card is also one of my much-loved rejects!

The ‘girl’ card colors were inspired by the colors over at Off the Wall Craftiness – I love the inspiration picture!

Here are Jay Gee & Kim Wilson’s inspiration photos:

Now, on to something very special! The lovely Jay Gee recently awarded me with a Liebster Award – the object of the blog is to point out fairly new blogs or perhaps blogs with less than 100 followers. Now there are dozens (lots of dozens!) of blogs in my reader – I get inspiration from everywhere and all the bloggers I come across are important to me! It is really hard to choose 3-5 to highlight, but here are some that are standing out recently in the personal pursuit:

Damask Love – ‘Dr. Amber’ – such a great CAS style!
Paper Crafts by Laurel – Laurel Beard (she may have tons of followers, but can’t see how many at the moment – either way, she’s fab!)
Humble Chan – Chan Vuong (hugely popular already, but can’t get enough of her cards, so wanted to give a little shout out!)

Britta Swiderski – lots of good stuff going on there!

Ohhh, there are soooo many more I wish I could include, but I think I’ll leave it at that for today!

A new little someone…

I think this is my favorite sentiment from Papertrey Ink’s Baby Button Bits, which is seeing a lot of ink lately!! I have another quick post today with a new baby card. The design is based on something I’ve seen on Maile Belle’s blog – I love Mat Stack 3 turned on its side and tucked away.

And the teddy bear in this set is just adorable – but those detailed cuts – ouch!

I genuinely can’t get enough of the October Afternoon Thrift Shop papers – I know they’ve been around awhile, but they are my all time favorite.
Ok, off to work my last work event and tomorrow is my last day!!! Starting Monday, I’m working part time at a new job and taking the rest of the time to pursue some crafting ideas I’ve got floating around! Its been a wonderful 3 years at my job and so grateful for my experience there. Will miss them dearly, but ready for my next adventure!

More baby cards…

Hi everyone!

Another baby girl card to share today. I got to use some yummy October Afternoon paper on this creation – I do loooove their papers. This card is for the current challenge over at Wee Memories, which is ‘Source of Inspiration.’

I picked up Paper Crafts Color Inspiration for Card Makers for this challenge – every page of this magazine is full of wonderful goodness – I could probably CASE something from each and every page. For this challenge, however, I chose the layout from Maile Belle’s card on page 139 and even used the same sentiment (as I needed a baby card!). I loved the use of twine and the cut off label so incorporated that as well.

Obviously, babies are very special someones, so this card is also for the Stamptacular Sunday Challenge!

Thanks for stopping by!
