Peace, Love & Joy

Hello friends! I’m back from our long weekend in London and working through the monstrous to-do list as we speak! How about you? Anyone else totally crazy right now? London was great – so nice to catch up with old friends, do a little shopping – I even made it to a yoga class.

Speaking of yoga, yesterday marked Day 1 of my 40 Day yoga challenge. I am hoping to do 40 consecutive days of yoga in the run up to our holiday vacation. As my struggle with fertility continues and stress runs high this time of year, I figured it was a perfect time to do something that will promote calm & patience. I will try to keep tabs of my journey on Instagram and Twitter with little updates here as well. I would love a partner if there are any yoga enthusiasts out there!??

Ok, onto today’s card. I made this for the Avery Elle Holiday challenge taking place this month. I love Winter Wreath – it gets a lot of use during the holidays. And that bow with the matching die – swoon. I wanted rich, Christmas colors for this card so went with bold greens, red & gold.

Sorry for the less-than-perfect photos – good light in November is proving hard to come by!

Five Minute Friday

Woot, woot – Friday! I’m ready for the weekend. I’m really hoping for a few hours to work on my Project Life. Fingers crossed – doesn’t usually happen, but here’s hoping.

I have another Five Minute Friday project to share today. I don’t know about you, but right now all I have is five minutes here & there. I knew I wanted to play along with the latest Avery Elle challenge – Kraft – but, crafting time was not in excess this week. The key to Five Minute Friday is ready-made elements like chipboard pieces and bold backgrounds – patterned paper, die cut backgrounds, stamped backgrounds, etc.

This card came together in a snap with a Papertrey Ink cover plate and a lovely chipboard flower from the Maggie Holmes Styleboard collection. The sentiment is from Avery Elle Petals & Stems.
Thanks so much for stopping by today and have a great weekend!

Color Me Happy

I love Pinterest. I’m a relatively avid pinner, happily collecting boards of DIY, recipes, card inspiration, color combinations and more. But, after hours get sucked away into the time warp that is Pinterest, what then? Its an amazing site, but a total trap as well. I have recently made an effort to do more with my pins – cook the recipes, do the DIYs – I even have friends who host Pinterest Parties making creations they find on the site.

I have decided to start a new series using the color combinations I pin endlessly to inspire some new creations. I love color – I love fearless combos, pleasing pairings, rainbows. I am always looking for new combinations and how those matches could spark something new in my creativity. This was fun – I highly recommend it. Here is my first experiment.

Here was the color combination
I pulled some coordinating papers, patterned papers and ink to get things going.

I decided to start off with some navy cards -
Flowerduo
This card uses the Simon Says Stamp Lots of Dots set – a really set this one! And the gorgeous Alte New Magnolias for Her set – love those gorgeous blooms. The sentiment is from the Simon Says Stamp Handwritten Greetings. The card is cut to 4″ wide to allow for the banner & flower hanging off the edge.

A super simple one using some leftover Studio Calico goodies and some fun patterned paper.
Next, I got inky with a Simon Says Stamp diagonal stripe stencil and one of my all time favorite floral stamp sets.

Lastly, one of my favorite layouts – the perfect way to show off gorgeous patterned paper and a big sentiment.

Incredible

That is all for this instalment of Color Me Happy – I hope you’re inspired to do something with all your pins! Thanks for stopping by!

Thank You

Hello again! I hope your weekend is off to a fab start! I’m back today for another challenge – this time the Avery Elle Watercolor challenge.

AE_watercolor_thanks

I just received the Thanks a Bunch stamp set and I couldn’t wait to ink it up! I was not disappointed – the set is so much fun! I kept the stamping crisp for the most part and focused my watercoloring on the background. I scribbled my Tumbled Glass Distress Marker in small areas and then added water to the surrounding areas, encouraging the color to move. It is really subtle, but I think it adds that extra something to the card.

I die cut the central panel with the Lil Inker stitched rectangle die and finished it off with a sentiment on vellum wrapped around the central panel. Everything is mounted with foam adhesive on kraft woodgrain paper.

Thanks so much for visiting today – enjoy your Saturday!

Oh Happy Day

Hello again! I have a super quick post tonight – already 9:30pm and I’m pretty exhausted! I made a quick card for the Avery Elle Guest Designer Search. I mixed a few of my favorite floral Avery Elle sets for this quick one layer card (promise I’ll do something with more than 1 layer soon!).

The sketch was based on the current challenge over at Case this Sketch.
Thanks so much for stopping by and have a great night!

Hello

So, I don’t talk about personal stuff on here too much, but I am recovering from a surgery on Thursday. Having some fertility issues trying to conceive our 2nd child & had a procedure done that will hopefully help things. Nothing major, but nothing minor either, if that makes sense! I am anxious to get back in my craft room, but forcing myself to take it easy this weekend so I can recover. And definitely trying to stay positive!

Helloleaves

Anyway, I had time to sneak in this quick card before going into the hospital. I made it for the current Avery Elle challenge to use embellishments. I decided to use ribbon, which I rarely use anymore (strange as I barely made a card without ribbon a year ago!). This was the first time I inked up the gorgeous Modern Leaves – such a fun set to play with. The card is actually grey, but looks black in the picture.

Ok, back to the couch for me. Wishing you all a lovely weekend!

Celebrate

Hello again! I hope everyone had an incredible Christmas – full of lots of laughter and quality family time!

AE_celebrate

I’m getting in the New Years mood and made this festive & colorful card, fitting for the upcoming holiday. This is another card for the Avery Elle challenge – using the same sketch as my previous post here – but a totally different look! I tweaked a few of the angles on this one…

Thanks so much for stopping by during your holiday break! I hope you are having a great one!

Hugs

Hey everyone! I’m sure everyone is so busy now that the holidays are nearly here. I appreciate you taking the time to stop by the ‘ol blog ;-)

AE_Hugs

Just a quick card to share today. I made this card for the current Avery Elle challenge. I recently got lots of new Avery Elle stamps so the challenge was the perfect kick I needed to put them to good use. This card is a little busier than the cards I’ve been doing lately, but I love all the gorgeous papers from the Crate Paper Close Knit line – so yummy!

Now that I’ve been looking at this card, I think it needed 1 more flower on the right side of the arrangement, but too late now! This Laurel set is a lot of fun to play with! Here is the sketch for the challenge:

Alright, that is all today! Thanks so very much for stopping by!

Birthday

For my card, I cut a triangle pattern background from my Silhouette. I temporarily adhered it to a sheet of 4″ x 5 1/4″ white cardstock and got inky with sponge daubers and Distress Inks. The sentiment is heat embossed in black on vellum and wrapped around the panel. I added some coordinating sequins, popped it up on a kraft card base & called it a day! Super easy, but bold & graphic. It did take me nearly the whole 10 minutes – finished just in time at 9 minutes, 57 seconds.

Thanks so much for stopping by – your next stop is the super sweet and talented Kelly Marie Alvarez! Enjoy the hop & be sure to play along! If you lose your way along the hop, check out the full list at Pretty Pink Posh.
