Inspired by Maile Belles for PTI

Hey guys. I’m a little late with this post, but I thought I’d share it anyway! This is my last card for the Papertrey Ink anniversary celebration and for today’s challenge I chose to take inspiration for Maile Belles, which is not hard! She is one of my all time favorite card makers. I adore her clean & simple style and stamp designs.

I needed a Valentine’s Day card for my husband and chose this card from Maile Belles as my inspiration –

Stunning, right?

I kept mine super simple (my husband never notices embellishments anyway!) and kept the same design using Watercolor Wonder.

The card is actually a dark grey, but always appears black in my photos for some reason! The sentiment is from Neat & Tangled – Jump Start My Heart. I think it is a nice, simple card, perfect for Valentine’s Day!

Valentine’s Day is extra special in our house as it is our son’s birthday. This guy turned 3 yesterday. Time goes so fast. He is such a curious, head strong little boy and full of life. He is growing up so fast, which is amazing and sad all at once!

Hope you have had a wonderful weekend and Valentine’s Day! Thanks so much for stopping by!

Papertrey Ink Anniversary challenge #2

Happy Friday, friends! I am so excited it is nearly the weekend. My little guy turns 3 tomorrow. We aren’t doing anything big, but excited to celebrate. And hoping he likes his play kitchen – daddy will be very annoyed if not as the assembly was no small feat!

I have another card today for the Papertrey Ink anniversary celebrations. The challenge I chose was to use a stamp set that has never been inked. Unfortunately, I have quite a few of these in my collection, but opted for Bigger Blooms. In truth, I have  used the sentiments in this set a lot, but never the floral images, so that is what I focused on for this card.

To create the inked background, I blended Pale Tomato and Dark Quartz inks over this Hero Arts stencil. Next, I stamped and die cut a cluster of flowers using Pale Tomato, Dark Quartz, Soft Cantaloupe and Berry Sorbet ink, with Simply Chartreuse leaves – I love this combination of pinks and peaches. Lastly, I die cut ‘Thanks’ from the WPlus9 set, Hand Lettered Thanks, and carefully adhered it to the card.

A nice Springy card to remember that sunnier & warmer times are in our future!

Thanks so much for stopping by today – have a great Friday!

Papertrey Ink Anniversary sketch challenge

Woohoo! I finally got around to making some cards! I really wanted to play along in some of the Papertrey Ink challenges this week. I used to be a pretty die-hard PTI addict. I still love their stuff, but I use a wider variety of products now. It was nice to revisit some of my PTI stash that has been collecting a little dust.

For today’s challenge, I went with the sketch & color combination.

To create the background I hand-cut an oval out of a sheet of masking paper and kept the right portion of the card covered. I covered the circular area with a hexagon cover plate and inked from yellow to green to blue. I stamped and die cut the flower and leaves from Doodlie-Do in black ink and popped them up on foam. The sentiment is from Building Blocks.

Ok, I’m one tired mamma. That is all for me tonight – I’ll be back tomorrow with more!

Elle’s Studio February Reveal

Today is the big Elle’s Studio February reveal – the best day of the month! I love the 10th – it is so much fun to share all the amazing products in this month’s kit. I adore this kit. The colors are really unique and the products are great for so many creative endeavors! I stuck with cards for this month’s reveal – I just loved these products for card making & I kept things super simple to let the gorgeous elements from the kit shine.

My first card uses the adorable tag from the February kit and some subtle stamping. This heart cluster from this month’s Always and Forever stamp set is amazing. I love the unique shaped hearts and the pattern of solid & outlined hearts. I stamped this in a soft grey, coming off the edge of the tag. I had a baby card in mind for this one, but it could easily be a kid’s Valentine’s card as well. I love the versatility. The patterned paper is from the Love You More collection.

This card actually uses a digital journaling card from this month’s digitals as the card base. I loved the design of this journaling card, and while it isn’t my usual shape for a card, I thought it would make the perfect background for lots of fun accents. Once I printed & cut the card, I layered a bunch of small embellishments from the kit on top. I stamped the circle label (from my stash) with ‘True Story’ from this month’s stamp set. I really like this font and the sentiment is a great size for scrapbooking & card making.  I finished off the card with some stitching and a wood veneer from the Love You More wood veneer collection.

Here is this month’s kit and all the amazing add-ons, including the Key to My Heart wood veneer set & Always & Forever stamp set, plus the digitals & the XOXO printables. Enjoy!!

Happy Friday!

Hey friends. I’m so behind on things around here, so I’m keeping it short again today! I had about 1/2 hour in the craft room this week and I was excited to use the January Studio Calico kit – Far, Far Away. I love their monthly kits and this one was no different. Usually I do my 1 hour challenge, but I didn’t have an hour to spare this time around, so I just did what I could with the kit contents & the time I had.

I adored the whimsical fruit stamps in the kit this month. I used various berry-colored inks for the background and kept it simple with a strip of patterned paper, navy twine and a silver label. I didn’t want to cover too much of the berry background!

Thanks all for today. I’ll be back tomorrow with another quick card from this kit. I hope everyone had a great week and wishing you a wonderful weekend!

5 Minute Friday

This 5 Minute Friday is also going to be a 5 minute post! Its 10:30pm here – my little one just went to bed and I have finally put my feet up for some Downton Abbey.

Today’s card is such a simple one. I adore these feathers from the Avery Elle Look Up set – they are perfect for quick watercoloring. I went with an ombre color scheme and some glitter in the center to make things a bit sparkly.

That’s all for me tonight – thanks for stopping by & have a great weekend!

Stampable Succulents

Hello! I’m so sorry for the quiet blog this last week. I am actually in the process of opening a little shop – I will be 1 tenant in an atelier-style store here in Zurich and I have tons to do for our opening in 1 month’s time. I’ll be sharing more information soon as we approach our opening for any of my local blog followers. It is very exciting!

I did have a few minutes to make some quick cards and I was so excited to ink up the Waffle Flower Potted stamp set. I adore this stamp! The succulent image is just stunning – perfect for so many techniques. I was pressed for time and did some quick & messy watercoloring. It is a simple, 1 layer card – perfect for mailing.

That is all for me today. Short & sweet :-) I’ll be back tomorrow with a 5 minute Friday. Have a great night!
