Simon Says Stamp September Card Kit

Hey there. Can’t believe Tuesday has already come & gone (at least if you live in Europe!). The week is flying by already and my to-do list is a mile long! It is a miracle I was able to actually  make something this weekend. I didn’t have time to give myself my usual 1 hour challenge with the Simon Says Stamp September kit, but I did make a couple cards.

The card today was a quickie – I used the Lil Inker On the Diagonal die to create a panel in the center and backed it with the patterned paper – I love this look. The paper, sentiment and sticker are all from the kit. This month’s kit was great. I really hope I have a chance to make more with it soon!

That is all from me for today. It will be a quiet week around here as I catch up on life! Thanks for your patience :-)

Project Life – June (week 24)

I’m back again this week with more Project Life to share.

This spread is from our 2nd week in the states. This week included more time with the family and also a solo trip for Viktor & I to NYC. It was the first time we left Jacob and we had a lot of fun. Living abroad without any family nearby we never get this opportunity, but we took advantage on this trip. Jacob loves his grandparents, so it wasn’t a problem to leave him. It was nice to be away, but we were all ready to see each other again after a few days!

I have a few inserts from this week as well, but they are entirely pictures, so I thought I’d leave them out. It was a big accomplishment to get this week done though, so I’m definitely giving myself a pat on the back.

5 Minute Friday

Hello! I hope you’ve had a great week. Nothing too exciting for our weekend and that sounds just fine :-)

I am REALLY hoping to spend some time in the craft room. I literally had 5 minutes this entire week – hence the 5 Minute Friday card another week running!

Smile_blog

I love this new Solstice paper pad – and was excited to finally break it open. It also felt good to finally put a Studio Calico Project Life filler card to good use. I receive the monthly kit and have accumulated such a huge collection thanks to my painfully slow work on my albums. It is so satisfying to actually use product! I get pretty overwhelmed by the state of my craft room sometimes and the excessive collecting (read: hoarding) that permeates the room!

Wednesday Wish List

Popping in for a quick post tonight to share some lovely things I’ve been eyeing.

WedWishListfinal1. I am currently in the middle of organizing all of my recipes. If I ever manage to get them all written down and stored in a pretty box, I’d love to use these gorgeous Rifle Paper Co recipe cards.

2. I love Cath Kidston. How could your morning go wrong eating cereal from these amazing bowls?

3. Josef Frank is one of my favorite designers. Seeing all his gorgeous work at Svenskt Tenn in Stockholm was a real dream come true. These coasters are to die for.

4. I am not hating the overall trend. I might take the plunge this fall & go for it. I love these ones from Paige.

5. I’m into my yoga these days and I really like the ethos behind Satya Jewelry. This necklace is calling my name.

6. Cozy cardigans are the best.

Have a great night!

Motivation for Monday

Abundance1

Hey friends. Hope you had a great weekend. I’m going to try to keep this in mind this week – I find this concept really motivating and powerful. I heard it during a yoga class on Yogaglo.com (online yoga with some of the world’s best teachers) with Elena Brower. She is amazing and her classes are transformative.

Have a great start to your week.

Project Life – June

As always, I am pretty behind on my Project Life, but I’m trying. I am up to date January – March, but have neglected April & May so I could tackle our 3 week long trip to the states in June. I wanted to do the vacation pictures when it was all still fresh. I had SO many photos from the trip, I knew it would be a challenge, but I am nearly there.

These spreads are from our first week in the states – visiting my family in Ohio. I predominantly used Studio Calico kits to complete these, with some Amy Tangerine products as well. I kept the spreads super simple, but they still take me an eternity. The planning, editing & printing is by the far the most time consuming for me – still can’t quite figure out how to streamline that….

Make a Wish

Hey friends. I had a few minutes during nap time today to get in my craft room. Felt good to make something – I haven’t been in the mood, but felt up for it today.

I love the Avery Elle set, Storybook. I have had it in my ‘to use’ pile for a while and finally inked it up for the Avery Elle Clean & Simple challenge. I did some messy watercoloring with Distress Markers for this card – and I didn’t use watercolor paper so I didn’t bother blending it too much to avoid the paper pilling. I think it turned out quite sweet if I do say so myself ;-)

Five Minute Friday

A super quick post tonight sharing my latest 5 Minute Friday card. This one was super, super easy. I used some Basic Grey Highline papers, circles punches and a chipboard sentiment. The edges were accented with a Hero Arts white dauber. As always for my 5 Minute Friday creations, I rely heavily on patterned paper to help these come together in a snap.

Highline_blogThis card is also for Virginia’s View Patterned Paper Challenge.

Simple Watercoloring Day 3

Hey friends. Back with some more watercoloring today. This is my 3rd instalment of Simple Watercoloring. You can find Day 1 here and Day 2 here. I love easy techniques and these mini cards came together in a snap. I used Papertrey Ink Circle Scribbles and Inktense pencils for some messy watercoloring. I used a technique I learned from one of Jennifer McGuire’s videos (if you do a search on her site for Inktense Pencils you will find it!). Basically, you wet a brush and touch it to the tip of the pencil. This gives you a lot of control over the consistency (i.e. how much water) and the color intensity. I have found this by far the easiest way to use these pencils. I have not had tons of success coloring directly on paper and then blending & smoothing. WatercolorDay3_group WatercolorDay3_1 WatercolorDay3_2 WatercolorDay3_3WatercolorDay3_4These cards are tiny – measuring just 2.5″ x 2.5″. I think they’d be great with a bouquet of flowers or as a small gift. what-you-need_choosen

1 Hour with Studio Calico Sandlot Card Kit

Hey friends. Finally back to some blogging after a little absence.

I made these cards a couple weeks ago and excited to share them here today. This is another instalment of my 1 hour challenge. Each month when I receive my Studio Calico kit, I challenge myself to create cards within a 1 hour period, using only the supplies of the kit (and any add-on kits). I use any sort of coloring medium that fits my needs (e.g. watercolors, inks, etc), but I really try hard to not reach beyond the contents of the actual kit. I love pushing myself to use up the kit as otherwise I just tend to hoard. And 1 hour is sometimes all I have, so that works well for me. Enough rambling. This is what I came up with this month.

This first card was a quick one, apart from the very tedious process of adhering the tiny sequins, which ate up a ridiculous chunk of my 1 hour! Bold patterned paper made this come together in a snap though.YouDidItI think this one is my favorite of the bunch. This ribbon was one of my favorite items in the kit.ThinkingofYou

I love the combination of black, white and a pop of color. Unfortunately, this didn’t come together quite the way I’d like, but I still wanted to include it in the post to stay true to my 1 hour challenge. I struggled with this card for long enough to nearly run out the clock!Black&White_thanksThis last one came together the quickest of all – about 10 minutes. I love the stamp set from the add-on – building sets are so much fun. This one is super easy to use.BdayFlowersI’m also entering the 1st card into Virginia’s View Pattern Paper challenge.

Ok, that is all for this 1 hour challenge. Thanks so much for stopping by & have a great Sunday!
