Watercolor Wonder

So, I’m very happy about the watercolor trend coming & staying – I love the look – adore it, really. One frustrating thing about this whole trend – I am terrible at doing it! Horrible actually. I try over & over again to achieve beautiful watercolor backgrounds, but it just isn’t happening for me – even with the very user-friendly Distress Markers. But, alas, I am not giving up. Be prepared to see some botched efforts on here over the next few weeks ;-)

Anyway, when I saw the new watercolor challenge over at the lovely Virginia’s blog, I thought I’d play along. After ruining about 4 sheets of watercolor paper, I finally resigned myself to some watercolor stamping to get the card done as I was ready to pull my hair out.

I used the sketch from Case this Sketch and some of the gorgeous goodies from the February Simon Says Stamp kit – I love that sentiment! I toned down the patterned paper a little with some white ink splatters & a few swipes with the Hero Arts white dauber.
I also tried out my new DSLR camera for the photo – I have NO idea how to use it!

You are so on top of the trends, Rachel! I love the pairing of vellum, clip, pattern paper and tag…and of course, your water-coloring of the pink flower really makes the design shine! So glad that you join the fun with the first Virginia’s View Challenge!

This is gorgeous….love how you added the white to the polka panel…

P.S. I use my son’s DSLR and just point/shoot. I don’t know how to use any of the settings:)

That sentiment really is super and I think your flower came out beautifully! Thanks for playing along with CAS(E) This Sketch this week!

This is gorgeous, Rachel! Watercoloring is surprisingly hard, isn’t it? I did the same thing. Luckily, I think the spritzing of the colored stamp technique results in beautiful art, such as this. I sure like it anyway!! Hugs, Darnell
