Hello again friends! I am a *tiny* bit impressed with myself for all my blogging this week – a rare thing around here! I’m back today sharing a fun & bright birthday card for this week’s Anything Goes challenge at Paper Smooches Sparks.
So, today is all about the February Simon Says Stamp card kit. I love these kits, but always feel a little disappointed that I don’t make more with them.
I set myself a goal to see how many cards I could make in 45 minutes – time is precious around here! Turns out – not that many. I completed one, and made decent progress on 2 others. Within an hour & a half I had 3 done. I assumed I would make at least 3-4 within 45 minutes, so it was a little bit of a reality check to see how much time I actually need to make something. Something to work on I suppose!
Ok, you must be getting sick of these one layer cards by now – I promise this is it for awhile! Today is very similar to yesterday’s card – just swapped out the stamp set & changed to a cream card base. Crazy what a cream card and rounded bottom corners can do – the card has a completely different look from yesterday’s white card & straight lines.
Thanks for stopping by & have a great day.
Hello again! I have a super quick post tonight – already 9:30pm and I’m pretty exhausted! I made a quick card for the Avery Elle Guest Designer Search. I mixed a few of my favorite floral Avery Elle sets for this quick one layer card (promise I’ll do something with more than 1 layer soon!).
Yay – I’m actually joining along in the Papertrey Ink blog hop this month – I never manage to get my act together for this, but I had a chance to make something this morning. I love the mood board for this month’s hop.
Thanks so much for visiting & enjoy the hop.
Hey friends. Hope you had a great weekend. It was starting to look like spring here in Zurich and we got dumped with rain & snow just in time to enjoy the weekend. Now looking out my window onto a snow storm instead of sunshine – I think the snow is a little more unbearable once you’ve already had a taste of spring!
So, in the hopes of spring weather returning soon, I have another sherbet-colored faux watercolor card today. Same idea as this card here, just used watercolor paper for the image, which I preferred to regular cardstock.
A side note on this card – I was totally stumped for inspiration in terms of the actual layout – I often use the same sketches/designs over & over. I happened to look up from my craft desk & noticed my calendar – I used the design for March as my inspiration – everything from the layout of the flowers to the font. Amazing how these little things go un-noticed, when in actuality they can be such a big help when you’re stuck.
That is all for me today. I’ll be back tomorrow sharing some cards from the February Simon Says Stamp kit – and a little challenge I set for myself!
So happy to be here again today sharing a card for the brand new Paper Smooches Sparks challenge – this week it is Designer Drafts. The sketch is a really great one – I hope you have a chance to play along!
Thanks so much for stopping by today – have a great weekend and make sure to check out all the amazing DT creations & play along!
Happy weekend to all of you. I’m happy its the weekend, but as luck would have it the gorgeous weather has turned dreary & wet – not sure why that always happens in time for the weekend.
Anyway, onto today’s card. This is another one for the latest Online Card Class – 1 layer cards. To see my first Copic one layer card, go here. I watched Dawn Woleslagle’s video with amazement as she did faux watercoloring with Hero Arts ink & the Copic colorless blender – her results were stunning. Mine, not so much! But, I’m still sharing them here. It was an interesting process & I think the stamp I chose wasn’t great for the technique. Curious to try some larger stamps for this again soon.
Sorry for the quiet blog this week. Try as I might, I couldn’t make anything blog worthy until today. I swear – I am only productive when I feel my time dwindling. I have some help with Jacob in the first part of the week, but my creativity only kicks in about 3 hours before that window of help is about to end. It is infuriating and if anyone has any suggestions on a remedy for this, I’m all ears!
I’ve been participating in the latest Online Card Class – blown away as usual by the talent – such inspiring projects. I thought I would try some sketchy Copic coloring, a la Donna Mikasa (one of my all time fave card makers).
I love these Papertrey Ink Circle Scribbles and this card came together pretty quickly once I chose my Copics. It is hard to see on the picture, but I covered the darker areas with Wink of Stella clear glitter and it is so shimmery in real life.
Ok, that is all for today – check back tomorrow for more 1 layer creations! Have a great day!
So, I don’t talk about personal stuff on here too much, but I am recovering from a surgery on Thursday. Having some fertility issues trying to conceive our 2nd child & had a procedure done that will hopefully help things. Nothing major, but nothing minor either, if that makes sense! I am anxious to get back in my craft room, but forcing myself to take it easy this weekend so I can recover. And definitely trying to stay positive!
Anyway, I had time to sneak in this quick card before going into the hospital. I made it for the current Avery Elle challenge to use embellishments. I decided to use ribbon, which I rarely use anymore (strange as I barely made a card without ribbon a year ago!). This was the first time I inked up the gorgeous Modern Leaves – such a fun set to play with. The card is actually grey, but looks black in the picture.
Ok, back to the couch for me. Wishing you all a lovely weekend!
