Project Life – Week 2

Hey again! Busy week here – my parents are visiting us in Zurich and we’ve been running around all week seeing the sites & enjoying the sunshine.

Today I’m sharing week 2 from Project Life – the pictures aren’t great of the spread (can’t figure out how to shoot these yet!) – but, I still wanted to share.

Project Life – Week 1

Wk1

Hey friends. I’m sharing week 1 of my Project Life 2013 album today. Saying I’m behind is a big understatement, but slowly I’m getting there (I can’t even think about years past though – that is just seriously overwhelming!).

Week 1 was really picture heavy – thanks to my camera-savvy brother-in-law – so I used lots of digital templates to get all the shots on a double page spread without needing an insert. I kept the page really simple with just a few embellishments. My pages have been coming out pretty flat – lots of digital stamps & brushes.

Thats all for this week – I’m slowly finding my style with the album, but I have a long way to go! Thanks for visiting!

Summer Card Camp 2

Sosweet

Hello! A super quick post tonight – its already 10:30pm here and the little guy wakes up around 5am these days, so really need to get ready for bed.

I’ve been swamped after my vacation – lots of things to do around the house before my parents arrive in Switzerland on Tuesday for 2 weeks! So excited, but haven’t had much time to make anything. I did sneak in a SUPER quick card today for Summer Card Camp 2. I’m really bummed I haven’t been able to participate more…

Anyway, this card uses this week’s colors & sketch and it is also using goodies from the July Simon Says Stamp Card Kit – really love getting these kits each month!

Thanks for visiting & have a great weekend!

10 Minute Craft Dash #22

RI#23

Hey friends! Hope you’re having a great week. I got back late last night from a short vacation. It was nice to be away, but I have a mountain of laundry, so gotta keep this short!

Today is the start of another 10 Minute Craft Dash. We have a great sponsor & prize – $25 gift certificate from Paper Sweeties! The colors are gorgeous as well so I’m sure you won’t have any trouble whipping up a beauty!

My card took me 9 min 43 seconds – even when I think I’m going to make it with plenty of time something always stumps me at the end – this time it was the pearls! Still not sure they’re in the right place ;-)

Make sure to head over to Pretty Pink Posh for all the challenge details & all the DT inspiration.

A Blog Named Hero July Challenge

Hey! Back today with another A Blog Named Hero guest post. Today is their new challenge – inspired by a Hero Arts artist. No problem there – their design team has all my faves – Lisa Spangler, Lucy Abrams, Jennifer McGuire & more! I chose Jennifer McGuire – she is so talented and such a sweet person too – I had the pleasure of meeting her 2 years ago at CHA.

Anyway, I love all her watercolor projects – I was inspired by the watercolor background of this project and used that as my jumping off point.

Just a Note: Part II

Hey! Hope you are all enjoying a beautiful weekend. The weather is finally improving here in Zurich & we’ve enjoyed lots of time playing outside. I recently posted a notecard set here. I finally got around to finishing the packaging – I love the burlap – think it adds just the right feel.

10 Minute Craft Dash Challenge

Hello! Today is my first challenge as a DT member over at the 10 Minute Craft Dash – I’m super excited! I love the challenge so much and it has really pushed me to get back into crafting over the last year since moving to a new country & being a full time mom. I hope it inspires you as well to crafty even if you’re short on time!

The sponsor for the challenge is Clearly Besotted Stamps – they have gorgeous stamps and the winner will receive 2 stamp sets of their choice! Woohoo! Reason enough to play along.

So, onto the card. I have found that I need to keep my creations super simple to stay within the time & I often opt for spray mists for quick color. This took me 9 minutes & 51 seconds – just in the nick of time!

Project Life – Title Page

Hey friends – long post today!

Today is my first day sharing my Project Life album. I wasn’t sure about sharing the pages – I’m just  starting the album and getting my flow. But, I’m hoping that by sharing them it may keep me accountable – I’m going to try to post something each week. Lucky for me I’m so far behind I have plenty to share!

Anyway, like I said I’m just getting started. Now, I’m pretty incapable of keeping something simple. I bought the pre-made Core Kits & read all about putting the album together on Becky’s blog, but alas, I had teach myself Photoshop (not a bad thing to know as it turns out!), embellish all the filler cards & over complicate things, in general. So, the pages are taking me A LOT longer than I would have expected, but I’m hoping the efforts will be worth it. That being said, I want to feel like I’m making progress documenting our life, so some weeks will have to simple – something I’m having trouble coming to terms with!

This is the cover page for the 2013 album:

Title Page
Because I was feeling really overwhelmed by the process creatively, I borrowed some elements for this page from some of my favorite PL designers – Ali Edwards, Susan Weinroth & Deb Duty. I’m hoping as I find my groove with the album I’ll find a style that is more of my own, but these women are such great inspiration as I start my journey.
Thanks for stopping by & sorry for this little novel!
