A labour of love!

So, thanks to the great challenge over at Lawnscapings to create your own patterned paper with stamps, there have been lots of great videos floating around the blogosphere to  show different ideas (for example, Kelly’s & Mary’s).

For a long time I’ve wanted the American Crafts City Park papers – especially the balloon one. But, alas, I don’t have it. Thanks to some great inspiration, I decided to make my own balloon paper. Now, if anyone has this particular PTI stamp set, they’ll know the balloon & balloon basket are separate stamps…this sheet of paper took me a looong time!!

And here is the first card I’ve made using the patterned paper. I accented some of the red balloons with glitter, but its hard to see in the pictures. The bird and banner are both embossed with clear embossing powder and adhered to the card with foam adhesive.

This card is for the In My Beautiful Balloon Challenge in Moxie Fab World and the sketch is based on the current sketch over at the Waltzingmouse blog.

Wow that background is impressive – way more time consuming than my simple ones. Your details are amazing! And the finished card is SUPER!! I just finished my 3rd one for the Lawnscaping Challenge – it’s a really fun challenge especially since I just got my new Lawn Fawn stamps in Friday!

Oh Rachel, you’ve been really busy making amazing cards since my last visit! I love your balloon paper, it may have been a labour of love, but it was so worth it, it looks great! Have a wonderful week. xxx

Nice! I like how that turned out. You’re braver than me . . . I got discouraged thinking about what it takes to stamp a pattern in all those different colors.

Oh my! How on earth did you dare to cut into that beautiful sheet of DP you created?! I’d have stuck it on my wall to stoke instead ;D
Fabulous home-made DP and a super sweet card too! Definitely worth all the time and patience with the stamping!
Thanks so much for joining us on A Passion for Papertrey!
